Wetland zones are particularly remarkable in the Park area which is essentially karstic and where therefore water mostly flows underground. The flora and fauna of these habitats are particularly rare in the Park and the Lot département (Marsh fern, Water Rail…)
The Marais de Bonnefont has been classified as a Regional Nature Reserve. This is a recognition of the work done over many years to safeguard the area and to raise awareness of it by the Pays de Padirac Community of Communes, who manage it, and the Park, who are privileged partners in its management.
The Park also works with local Associations and authorities on two other nature reserves, the Etangs (ponds) de Puy Blanc and the Lac de Bannac.
